Laser Phosphor Engines
While marketed as "solid state," laser projectors are susceptible to specific degradation modes. The most common is Phosphor Wheel decay. The high-energy blue laser eventually burns tracks into the phosphor coating.
3LCD Optical Alignment
In 3LCD systems (Epson, Panasonic, NEC), the light is split into RGB paths. The most frequent failure is Polariser Burn. Organic polarising filters degrade under UV and heat, turning yellow or brown.
DLP & DMD Architecture
Digital Micromirror Devices (DMD) are mechanical marvels, but they suffer from "Stuck Pixels" (white or black dots) when micromirrors seize. In single-chip DLP units, the Colour Wheel is a failure point.

Symptom: Uneven colour blobs or yellow tint.
Cause: Polariser degradation in LCD units.
Fix: Replacement of optical filters.
